ABOUT

    SHEFFIELD

Sheffield is one of the cheapest places in the UK to live and study. According to a survey of university towns and cities (Natwest Student Living Index 2015), living costs for Sheffield students are in the top 10 most affordable.

Sheffield is also one of the greenest cities in England with 150 woodlands and 50 public parks within the city. The greenery is throughout the city from the centre, where the Winter Gardens is Europe's largest city centre temperate glasshouse, to the countryside, where the Peak District national park is only ten minutes away from the University.

Government statistics rate Sheffield as one of the safest UK cities.

When you're not studying, there is plenty to see, do and explore in Sheffield. From the Students' Union (voted number one student's union in the UK for the past 10 years in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey), to the city and beyond you will never be bored. The city's cultural amenities include multi-screen cinemas, concert venues, leisure complexes and an arts scene to suit all tastes.

We love the fact that although Sheffield is a major city, and developing all the time, it has kept its sense of community. You can enjoy sophisticated fast-paced city life and yet in 20 minutes you can be in the middle of beautiful countryside.

The University itself is one of 24 Russell Group universities and is ranked 104th in the world and 13th in the UK according to the 2018 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The Dental School is committed to delivering high quality teaching within the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital and outreach practices in order to produce first class graduates able to tackle the ever changing demands of a modern day dentist.
