VOLUNTEERING
SUDSS is passionate about providing volunteering
opportunities for it's members.
This year we plan to introduce two new volunteering programmes with two Sheffield based shelter charities The Snowdrop Project, a provider of support to victims of human trafficking, and The Cathedral Archer Project, an organisation that supports the homeless.
We hope to integrate these with our existing volunteering programmes. Such as, the Teddy Bear Hospital; an opportunity to reduce fear and anxiety in children by introducing them gently to the dental environment. SUDSS also organises volunteering projects with the St Wilfrid's Centre; a community centre for the homeless and other vulnerable adults, aiming to create a warm and friendly environment through which they can provide support. SUDSS volunteers are asked to help educate those using the centre on the importance of oral hygiene and the risks and warning signs or oral cancers.
MOUTH CANCER AWARENESS WEEK
Our society aims to raise as much money as possible each year for our nominated charity. We chose The Children's Hospital Charity as it is an organisation that is very close to home and provides such vital work in our city. We have some exciting charity events planned this year and we are so pleased that we will be raising money for such a worthy cause.

THE ANNUAL DENTAL REVUE
From the 19th - 23rd November, SUDSS will be hosting a week of fundraising events for MCAW. Including volunteer work, charity sports events, bake sales and more!
We will also be setting up a stall in the Sheffield Student's Union to spread information about the risks and signs of oral cancers. The aim by the end of the week is to raise as much money as possible for charity and increase awareness within the community.
Keep an eye on our social media pages for more information on specific events!
The annual dental revue is an event hosted by SUDSS. Those in attendance expect an evening of wild entertainment, short comedic clips, and charity raffles and auctions. It is one of SUDSS most popular events with both staff and students present. The evening is then usually followed by a night out at Pop Tarts.
