Sheffield university dental society or SUDSS as it is more commonly known is a society based at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Sheffield. It sets out to promote its members during and after their undergraduate training, both educationally and socially. Originally it was created with the intention of enhancing the undergraduate social experience however gradually it has expanded into sports and more recently education.
SUDSS enters teams into the intramural leagues for hockey, netball and football. Netball is played every Tuesday lunchtime at 1pm at the Goodwin Sports Centre. Hockey is also played weekly at 4pm on Tuesday at the Goodwin Sports Pitches. SUDSS also enters an 11 a side football team in the intra mural league with the matches being played at weekends, although times are variable.
SUDSS is a great way of getting involved with sport at university and getting to know people in other years within the dental school. It also has an added bonus of helping you stay fit and healthy while giving a break from lectures and clinics. All levels of experience are welcome whether you’ve been playing for years or just fancy trying a new sport. We welcome any queries you may have and remember you don’t have to be an expert to get involved!
With wiki's on any and every dental topic and an online test yourself area as well as the society's promotion in education via organising study groups and additional lectures, SUDSS takes a serious stance on dental education and advancement.
